Journey to the West: The Tang Monk and His Disciples Face Another Trial

In the Western Heaven, in a side hall of the Great Thunderclap Temple, behind the mountain, in a secluded little corner.

Tang Sanzang was holding a meeting with his four disciples:

"Master, why did the Buddha hold a secret meeting with the Bodhisattvas and the immortals of Heaven, but leave us out?" Zhu Bajie leaned against a pile of rocks, chewing on a pig-tail snack as he spoke.

Sha Wujing used his monk's robe as a fan to cool Tang Sanzang. "Second Senior Brother, you said it was a secret meeting, so how did you find out about it?"

Zhu Bajie spat the tail of the snack out of his mouth. "You don't need to know how I found out. Your Second Senior Brother has plenty of ways. The important question is: why did they hold a meeting without us?"
