Showbiz: A Traditional Chinese Arts Star

Peking opera performer Cheng Dieyi arrives in a parallel world and is shocked to discover that traditional Chinese opera has been suppressed to the brink of extinction.

He decides to show the whole world the charm of culture.

A young idol scoffs, "This stuff is ancient history. These days, everyone listens to music."

Dieyi smiles faintly. "Who says music can't incorporate elements of opera?"

With "Blue and White Porcelain," "Rolling Bead Curtain," and "Red Ling," his operatic singing leaves the entire music scene dumbfounded.

He is the guardian of traditional Chinese art who appears out of nowhere on A Nation's Beauty, a peerless dan performer who single-handedly rescues its sinking ratings and sings mournfully atop the city walls.

On National Treasure, he is Li Taibai, dancing alone beneath the moon with a jug of wine and a sword.

He is also the inheritor of Peking opera who gathers a host of opera performers for the New Year's Gala to present the masterpiece A Dream in the Garden.
