Journey to the West: From the Start, I Lose a Thousand Merits

The Three Pure Ones guided souls across the river, and Yang Zhen transmigrated into Journey to the West as Tang Seng, while also obtaining a Merit System.

This start is a little surreal!

From then on, with the Merit System at his side, he crushed gods and demons, earned a place among the immortals, joined the ranks of the true adepts, and steadily cultivated his way to enlightenment. From then on, he lived in boundless happiness and freedom.

What?

He started out with a deficit of one thousand merit points!?

There's something I really want to say, but I don't know if I should...
