Urban: The Great Mage Who Began with Journey to the West

To find work, modern-day Zhang Wenle applies for a job at a Daoist temple. Instead, he is granted Daoist registers, officially ordained as a Daoist priest, and put in charge of a remote temple.

A ring lets him travel into the world of Journey to the West.

In that world, the registers he received in the real world turn out to be the source of his ability to use spells, equivalent to a divine office and immortal status!

A great celestial master, adept at the secret arts and supernatural powers of many schools, is born in the world of Journey to the West!

So Zhang Wenle keeps receiving registers in the modern world: the Ninth-Rank Register of Perfected Dao, the Eighth-Rank Register of the Cavern of Truth, the Seventh-Rank River Chart Register, the Sixth-Rank Register of Five Blessings... until he becomes the supreme Great Celestial Master!

Buddhism and Daoism may be destined to flourish in Journey to the West, but I insist that Daoism flourish even more!

In the real world, Zhang Wenle also rises to the highest heights, becoming the one and only Great Celestial Master in the world.
