Love Remains, Happiness Remains

Though Xianyu is not a large kingdom, its people have lived in peace and prosperity for many years. This flourishing era is thanks to the tireless efforts of Prince Yi, the reigning emperor's uncle. The current emperor ascended the throne at just six years old, and Prince Yi personally handled affairs both great and small at court. Now sixteen, the young emperor has begun to form ideas of his own. Caught between the forces of Prince Yi and the empress dowager, he has started cultivating his own trusted allies. Yu Shihu, the young emperor's teacher, was repeatedly promoted until he rose to a position equal to Prince Yi's. With real power in his hands and the emperor's trust behind him, Yu Shihu grew arrogant, domineering, and ruthless. The young emperor said nothing, but his trust in his teacher was slowly fading. Still, eager to bring the court under his own control as quickly as possible, the emperor allowed the forces of Prince Yi, the empress dowager, and Yu Shihu to fight among themselves. While waiting to reap the benefits, he also began looking for new allies.
