Witch Zero: The Demon God War

This story takes place on a continent of swords and magic. Legend has it that five thousand years ago, the Witch of Destruction and the Three Demon Gods wreaked havoc, leaving devastation wherever they went. The greatest human hero, the Elemental Knight, defeated the Witch of Destruction and the Three Demon Gods single-handedly. In their memory, ancient murals were carved throughout the continent.

Now, back to our story. Our male lead is Ye Xiu, who lives in Maka Town, Alvanna. His parents run an inn. Ye Xiu has excelled in school since childhood and is the poster child for the kid every parent wishes they had. In short, he's amazing. Feng Di, a boy from the same village and something of a relative to Ye Xiu, is merely average and is called a good-for-nothing. The two boys' fates change when they take the upcoming magic aptitude test. For men in Alvanna, the test determines who can become a noble. Those with magic can take a family name and become knights. Those without it can only become cannon-fodder swordsmen serving the knights, though a rare few become Sword Kings. Women in Alvanna take the same test when they turn eighteen, but the results are completely different. As for why, the Witch, Zero, and the Demon God War will tell you.
