The story begins with a series of encounters between Gao Changgong and Wan Xiaohe after the great victory at Mangshan, and runs through the political struggles of the Northern Zhou and Northern Qi at that time. The first paragraph uses an introduction without describing in detail whether Gao Changgong and Wan Xiaohe will finally be together, leaving a suspense to be revealed at the martial arts conference thirty years later.
