The Wheel of Heavenly Evolution

The myriad heavens intertwine, the sun and moon revolve, and the changing world turns over inside a bronze furnace atop an altar.

Is this what they call a "heavenly sacrifice"?

And what connection does the world we live in have to it? Are all living beings offerings?

A baby taken from the altar: what is his background, what has he been through, and what fate does he bear?
