In the early years of the Zhenguan era, disaster after disaster struck: drought, snowstorms, and locusts.

As the people suffered from hunger and bitter cold, Chang'an merchant Chen Sanwan hoarded cloth and drove up prices across the city.

The people could barely make a living, and countless froze to death.

When Li Er learned of this, he flew into a rage, left the palace in disguise, and led the Imperial Guard to raid the Chen residence.

As the raid was underway, a group of people came calling at the Chen residence.

Li Er assumed they were Chen Sanwan's accomplices and wanted to root out these unscrupulous merchants. So, to keep the raid secret, he pretended to be Chen Sanwan.

Luo Yu took him at his word and immediately produced a promissory note to collect a debt.

"Your son borrowed two hundred thousand taels of gold from my bank to hoard cloth. The due date has arrived. Pay back the principal and interest!"

From then on, Luo Yu became Li Er's creditor. Li Er had originally intended to track down the true culprit, but unexpectedly discovered Luo Yu's extraordinary identity.

One day, the truth of Luo Yu's origins finally came to light, and Li Er sighed with remorse.
