Jue Attendant, Name Qian

Meng Qian is the son of Meng Guning, the current prime minister. With constant power struggles at court and the prime minister's residence in danger, Meng Guning ruthlessly sends his young son to live with his close friend, Shen Jixi. When Meng Qian joins the army at twenty, he meets Fang Jue, who is only sixteen, and saves him from a life of starvation. The emperor admires Meng Qian's outstanding talent and, given his status as the prime minister's son, summons him to the capital to serve as Vice Minister of Justice. So young, yet already so favored by the emperor, Meng Qian naturally becomes a target for everyone. After joining the army, Fang Jue has another stroke of good fortune: he becomes a trusted imperial guard of the Embroidered Uniform Guard, a man of extraordinary talent and an agent the emperor has planted among the people to keep watch. His mission this time is to protect Meng Qian, whom he recognizes at Yingyue Pavilion.

Meng Qian is devoted to serving his country, while Fang Jue cannot stand corrupt officials harming the people. The two team up to bring down numerous corrupt factions, yet they repeatedly find themselves in trouble. Fang Jue falls ever deeper for Meng Qian, but Meng Qian is a block of wood: he is oblivious to Fang Jue's feelings and does not respond. In the end, the road to face-slapping and winning his beloved back is long indeed.
