The Senior Brother of the Immortal Sect

Drunk among the clouds, I recall the mortal world in dreams time and again.

I sigh for the mortal world, which has clouded half a lifetime of longing.

A white flood dragon treads the path, seeking the Dao and setting it down in verse.

Day and night within the cave, unaware of the mountains beyond.

White clouds carry wine; mountain springs sing.

Riding a sword like a soaring bird, I ride the spring breeze across a thousand years.

I ask not what year it is, past or present.

What is an immortal? So long as Heaven and Earth endure, and the sky does not collapse, an immortal does not die.

By the Azure Moon Pool, beneath flowing clouds, a figure in green robes dances in drunken abandon, holding a scroll and pointing furiously at the errors of Heaven and Earth. I have a book before which ten thousand immortals kneel: "Wherever the bright sun and moon shine, wherever the stars and rivers of the Dao extend, all shall be under my rule!"

All things that are born and perish are living beings.
