The Gods' Lament: The Search

The Sunset Palace governs all things under Heaven, including life, death, and survival.

When the 1,167th Palace Master descended into the world, dusk fell and all was silent. Birds and beasts gathered at the Sunset Palace, all bowing their heads. Thus, he was named Mu Junlin.

The Zhanxiang clan was cursed by Heaven's Decree because their ancestor, Qing Ranche, had slain a Palace Master. For generations upon generations, the Qingran clan would love but never be loved in return.

Yet Qing R Lian, the last Zhanxiang, fell in love with Mu Junlin, the Palace Master. But no one could break Heaven's Decree, and theirs was destined to be a cruel love.

“My lord, Lian'er does not ask for eternity. I only hope that having loved you in this life will be enough.”

“So what if there is Heaven's Decree? So what if there's a curse? I will make them all see that the only woman who can be the mistress of my Sunset Palace is you, Qing R Lian!”

Across four lifetimes, he searched for her and waited for her. Yet in the end, he was always the only one left alive.

“In the next life, I only hope you never find me. That would be better than making you witness death and endure another farewell all alone.”

Cherry blossoms bloomed across the trees. Where the petals drifted down, that person smiled faintly.

“A Lian, long time no see. I... missed you so much.”
