Urban: Looking for a Job? Who Do You Think You're Looking Down On?

“Cicadas, cicadas, cicadas.”

The sun beat down overhead. It was the height of summer.

In a small village in Ningxiang County, two young men sat beneath a century-old maple tree, enjoying the shade and discussing how to make money.

“Look at this job listing on 68 City. They’re hiring a ‘bartender’s apprentice, salary over 6,000.’ It’s in Kyoto, though, so it’s pretty far away. But with pay that high, I could accept that.”

“Sounds good. When are we going?”

“Let me check how much the tickets there cost.”

After discussing it, the young men set off for the north, hoping to make something of themselves one day.

After a series of setbacks, they arrived in Kyoto, a city where they knew no one, and one that countless young people worked hard to make their way in.
