Io, who choked to death on Coke, traveled to Superman's hometown of Krypton and became the next military commander of Krypton, the son of Zod and El, and the successor of the Kryptonian god Rao, the new generation of Krypton's sun god. Sixteen years later, Io and Zod launched a rebellion in an attempt to seize the power of Krypton's Parliament of Truth, but Krypton was destroyed by Darkseid, who had already targeted it. When Krypton was destroyed by Darkseid, the strongest new god, a space crack appeared, allowing Io to travel to the Marvel Universe.
