The Warring States Era, Fantasy Style

In the early years of the Warring States period, Laozi attained the Dao and ascended to Heaven, where the Jade Emperor bestowed upon him the title of Grand Pure One, Celestial Worthy of the Dao and Its Virtue.

Laozi's son Li Zong and his disciples Xin Yan, Yin Xi, Geng Sangchu, Wang Xu, Ren Nü, Yang Zhu, Nan Rong, and others either founded their own schools, entered public service, or cultivated the Dao alone.

During the Warring States period, the Zhou royal house declined as the feudal lords annexed one another's territories. Cultivators entered the mortal world in droves, joining different factions and helping the lords achieve hegemony.

Cultivators absorbed the essence of the sun and moon and the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, mastering the arts of flight and burrowing underground, as well as splitting mountains and shattering rocks. A world-shaking war was about to erupt across the land.
