The Choice

Tang Yuan came from an ordinary family and lived an uneventful life. His parents farmed and sold vegetables to make ends meet. Tang Yuan helped out in the fields when busy and worked as a carriage driver in his spare time. Every day, he drove through the city from north to south, then east to west, and returned at sunset. He knew there were many other kinds of lives in this world: becoming an official, running a tavern, telling stories or performing on stage, and even another, far more outrageous kind of life. He didn't even dare think about that last one. He never expected to become someone like that. All he hoped for was to own a little tavern by middle age, and he would be content. But Heaven seemed to have given him a special mission, and his ordinary life finally changed after he drove someone somewhere one day...
