Content introduction In the late autumn of 1932, the Japanese Northern Manchuria Development Corps settled in Kaoshan Village, built village enclosures, and began the business of enslaving Chinese farmers. Miao Wenju's family fled famine, but when the Japanese pioneer group was raging, the villagers rose up to resist. In order to protect their land rights, the two sides fought with weapons. The villager Da Mouzi had his calf broken by the Japanese and went into the mountains to recover from his injuries. Facing a powerful enemy, Miao Wenju and other local farmers fought openly and covertly against the Japanese: destroying farm tools, hiding seeds, burning poppies, training horses to trick the enemy, establishing a secret anti-union liaison station, and fighting unremittingly against the Japanese. But in the end, because the enemy was strong and we were weak, their land was robbed and they became serfs. Miao Wenju and other farmers abandoned their farms and joined the army. They experienced counter-"sweeping", attacked gun towers, ambushed military vehicles, and seized supplies; they defeated Sun Wu and rescued Heihe; they marched thousands of miles westward, bravely broke into Japanese checkpoints, outsmarted small Japanese strongholds, and successfully reached the western base area. During this period, Miao Wenju and Waitao fell in love. After wisely killing a black bear and choosing a son-in-law through a martial arts competition, Miao Wenju won and wanted to get married. Waitao's father and Wenju's father were killed by Japanese soldiers. The wedding did not take place but turned into a funeral. This novel and its characters are purely fictitious.
