The Ming Dynasty Executioner: Starting with the Lingchi Execution of Liu Jin

On August 25, 1510, in the fifth year of the Zhengde reign, Liu Jin was sentenced to death by a thousand cuts, 4,200 in all. Fu Ping'an, known as Ninth Master, was the best executioner in the Ministry of Justice. Liu Zigu was an ordinary commoner. The two had no place in the same time or space, yet their fates were closely intertwined. A Ming dynasty executioner, killing by the inch and cleaving souls: whether you are human, ghost, god, or demon, if you break the law, there is only one word: execute!
