The New Tale of the Demon Spirit Saint

Everything in the myriad worlds follows certain laws, and even the gods cannot escape the laws of nature. In the Sacred Realm, one such law dictates that every forty-nine years, a virgin must be chosen from the mortal world as a "Saintess" and undergo a reincarnation ceremony to sustain the Sacred Realm's power. Of course, none of this can be verified. It is merely a story passed down by word of mouth, pieced together to explain what is happening.

The moment I saw that girl in Class 13 move, I came up with a temporary explanation: the Sacred Realm had set up this barrier. It had chosen the Saintess, and since I, too, already knew about the "Saintess Game" and was still able to move, that meant the Sacred Realm was trying to use my strength to protect her.
