In the eighth year of the Daye era, Changsun Wugou was attacked by Turkic cavalry on her way home, and her fate hung in the balance.
Far away in Chang'an, Guanzhong, Li Shimin was so worried he could barely sleep for days as he prepared to call on her family and ask for her hand in marriage.
As it happened, Yang Che, a rising star of the Yang imperial clan, passed by and casually rescued Changsun Wugou, leaving her with a longing she could never forget.
Li Shimin: "Why did you refuse my proposal? In terms of family background or ability, how do I not measure up? Why, exactly?"
Changsun Wuji: "I won't force my younger sister as her elder brother. I respect her decision. Please leave, Brother Li."
Gao Shilian: "You, the second son of the Li family, and Guanyin Bi have no future together. You'd better just give up!"
