During the heyday of the Rocks Pirates, he was the overlord of the seas who could overpower Rocks, known as the Black Dragon King.
In the Battle of God Valley, Rocks was defeated by Garp and Roger, but Rog overpowered them both, storming the heart of the Holy Land single-handedly. However, a System error left him sealed away.
In the year 1492 of the Sea Circle Calendar, he awakened from his seal and happened upon Kaido. He defeated him with overwhelming strength and made him his underling.
Doflamingo: Fuffuffuffu! No one can withstand his power. Fear him, tremble before him! The world you Celestial Dragons rule is going to be turned upside down by him!
Kaido: They call me the Strongest Creature in the land, sea, and air? No, no. My big brother, the Black Dragon King Rog, is the real Strongest Creature in the land, sea, and air.
Bullet: Rog, because it's you, I'm willing to give it everything I've got. I'll be the one to defeat you!
Whitebeard: Much as I hate to admit it, I have to acknowledge that Rog possesses power the likes of which have never been seen before..
