Playing the Imperial Envoy from the Start, I Rose to Success

The protagonist transmigrates to the fifty-first year of the Kangxi reign and, from the start, becomes Li Wei, a man who has robbed an execution ground and must impersonate an imperial envoy.

He investigates the corruption case in Liangjiang and reforms the salt administration, earning favor and steadily rising through the ranks.

He deals with that old rascal Kangxi's utterly useless son and helps Yongzheng ascend the throne.

Ren Nanpo: You really are a genius for the ages.

Kangxi, on his sickbed: Am I an emperor for the ages? Look at what I've accomplished.

Li Wei: No, no. It was your maritime trade ban and isolation from the outside world that caused us to fall behind the rest of the world. I'm going to change that and make up for your mistake.

Your Majesty, Fourth Master, you need to keep a close eye on your son Hongli. Otherwise, we'll fall completely behind the rest of the world. I won't let that happen. We need a reform now.

Yongzheng: "The whole world? Reform?"

"That's right." Li Wei draws a map of the world. "Take a look at how big the world is. The West is about to undergo its first Industrial Revolution. We can no longer shut ourselves away."
