Burning the Heavens

The sun blazed like a furnace. The great sun hanging in the sky was like a glowing red-hot brazier, and the earth seemed powerless beneath it, like meat roasting over a fire, clinging to life. Waves of heat surged through the world. The air seemed to have turned solid, burning anyone who drew a breath. The sky, the land, and the water all seemed to be on fire. Everywhere the eye could see was an unchanging, endless blaze of red. This was the Burning Heavens.
