The Mo Family Army

During the Spring and Autumn period, the Zhou court moved east, the royal order fell apart, and the feudal system gave way to a collection of rival states. The hegemony system arose in response. Ambitious men had only two paths before them: assist a ruler in dominating the land, or help the weak and the poor and bring blessings to all under Heaven. The Mohist Army, a militia organized by Mo Di, was made up of men skilled in martial arts, especially the arts of attack and defense. Their motto was, "If we cannot hold the line, we would rather die fighting." Their conviction was, "Save the people from fire and water."
