Journey to the West: The Demon Monk of the Tang Dynasty

When Chaos divided, Heaven opened at Zi, Earth formed at Chou, and humanity came into being at Yin. Heaven and Earth joined once more, and all things were born. Among them were birds and beasts: the Qilin was foremost among beasts, and the Phoenix among birds.

Within the Celestial Cycle were the Five Immortals: Heaven, Earth, gods, humans, and ghosts. There were also the Five Classes of Creatures: scaly, feathered, furry, shelled, and bare-skinned. All beings with nine orifices could become immortals.

At the beginning of the Celestial Cycle, there were distinctions between heavenly and earthly immortals, and between heavenly gods and barbarian gods. The conflict between Heaven and Earth had persisted since Chaos.

Later, an incarnation of the Lord of the Supreme Purity traveled west through Hangu Pass and transformed the barbarians into Buddhas, bringing a brief respite to the conflict between Heaven and Earth.

After an accident, Sun Ye transmigrated into the world of Journey to the West. He took Jin Chanzi's golden body and Buddhist teachings, then became Tang Xuanzang.

What was the point of seeking the scriptures?

Travel east to spread Buddhism, only to make clothes for someone else?

You do all the hard work while your boss enjoys the rewards. Haven't we all done enough stupid things like that?

Wukong: Master, what do you intend to do?

Sun Ye: Kill the Tathagata and seize the West...
