I Have a Sword, and Seek Only Defeat

Xiao Yuan transmigrates to a world overrun by demons, where Confucian scholars can commune with the gods. Born into the imperial family, he follows the Confucian path and becomes the top scholar in the imperial examinations at just eight years old, his talent dazzling the capital. Just as his bearing as a future sage becomes unmistakable... a Daoist finds him:

"I have a sword that can break all spells."

"I have a sword that can judge life and death."

"I have a sword that can slay demons."

And so, Confucianism lost a future sage;

the world gained a swordsman whose "sword energy stretches thirty thousand miles, one sword's cold light chills nineteen continents."

Xiao Yuan: "I have a sword that has broken all spells, judged life and death, ended all life, destroyed gods and Buddhas, cleaved the three realms, shattered space and time, mastered the will of Heaven, and slashed the firmament... All I ask is to be defeated!"
