A Tale of Love Between a Butterfly and a Fox

During the Warring States period, as Qin grew stronger, it had already begun to show signs of seeking to unify the realm. Within its borders, it actively pursued reforms to strengthen itself. Toward the other feudal states, it formed alliances, invaded and annexed them, and worked toward its own ends. After martial artists became active throughout the land, Qin realized that they were also a force not to be underestimated. It then set about eliminating them to prevent future trouble. In public, Qin observed the so-called Pact of Lords Outside the Court between the martial arts factions, but in secret it stirred up discord between them, turning them against each other just as the feudal states did. In this way, it sought to remove the obstacles in its path as it swept across the realm.

Once Qin learned that the feudal lords throughout the land were no real match for it, and that its true enemies were the martial artists, it resorted to every means of making them fight one another. Its sinister aim was to wipe them out without having to send a single soldier into battle. Soon, a brutal and horrific bloodbath unfolded in the martial world, and the eight great sects of the jianghu naturally became Qin's target...
