The Dragon Abyss Record

"The realm must unite after long division, and divide after long unity."

The Central Plains are now split among Western Qin, Northern Zhou, Northern Yan, and the Southern Kingdom. Though Northern Zhou is vast and rich in resources, its position at the heart of the realm has made it a target for all.

After Crown Prince Yuwen Hao of Northern Zhou personally inspected the border defenses in the north and, for some unknown reason, died of illness on the way, the princes began to harbor different ambitions. In recent years, those with power and influential family backgrounds had started courting court officials in their bid for the supreme throne. The court seemed calm on the surface, but the struggle for the succession grew ever more tense. The officials, for the most part, followed the lead of the Second and Fourth Princes.
