Eighteen years ago, an enormous bronze gate appeared in the sky.

Countless armies and cards poured onto Earth, while endless cries of anguish filled the streets and alleys of New York.

Beams of light shot from the armies' devices, turning people into countless cards.

Now those armies have long since vanished, leaving only the cards, which are treated as a game.

But one man noticed the cards scattered across the world.

Later generations would call him the Duel King.
