Farming at 80: I Picked Up a Grandson Who's a Big Shot

Abandoned book, terrible ending. Don't read.

After his wife dies, Lin Dehai returns to his hometown,

repairs his dilapidated old house and reclaims a patch of wasteland,

cares for a little kitten and raises a whole bunch of white rabbits,

chats with the neighbors and watches crickets fight beneath the banyan tree,

but unfortunately, his eighty-year-old body isn't up to the task.

By chance, he brings home an abandoned baby to raise, and notices his health gradually improving.

A clump of reishi mushrooms sprouts beneath his bed, and an old mountain ginseng plant grows in the corner of his yard.

He looks suspiciously at the baby drinking milk.

Could it be... that he struck gold?
