Online Game: City of Heroes

A wish-fulfillment story.

"I'll give you a city and make you its lord. You in?"

"No."

"Congratulations, player! You've earned a spot in the Heroes' City closed beta, with no character wipe. Teleportation will begin in 3, 2, 1..."

A flash of white light later, Wang Kuan, who had been enjoying a lazy lie-in, found himself on top of a tall hill.

"Ding! Since you refused the game's beta invitation, you've received the passive skill: Unwavering Spirit."
