Entering the Dao, Beginning as an Immortal in a Painting

Yan Xiaochuan, a young man from Earth, transmigrates to a parallel world much like our own. In this world, from ancient times to the present, every village, town, county, and city has one or two supernatural shops, or even an entire street of them, whose guardians keep the peace.

When Yan Xiaochuan turns sixteen, the arts of the various schools and sects have been lost or passed down incomplete. No one has reached the Heavenly Master realm of Refining Emptiness and Uniting with the Dao. Yan Huating, Yan Xiaochuan's grandfather, wants to avenge the murder of his wife and child. With no other choice, he uses the ancestral jade pendant of time to send Yan Xiaochuan back a thousand years, where he can seek out Yan Chixia and his wife to learn the Dao. Thus begins Yan Xiaochuan's life studying the Dao in another time and space, followed eighteen years later by his exciting return to the modern city.
