A parallel world: Earth, beset by disasters.
Thirty years ago, in the 642nd year of the Great Ming calendar, or 2010 by the Western calendar, all manner of supernatural forces that had vanished into the mists of history returned to Earth.
Twenty years ago, in the 652nd year of the Great Ming calendar, a colossal supernatural disaster known as a Spacequake erupted all over the world. Taking advantage of this, a force lurking in the shadows brought about the greatest calamity in human history: the First Impact. All kinds of inhuman beings found only in tales of gods and demons reappeared.
Ten years ago, in the 662nd year of the Great Ming calendar, the Second Impact began. To ensure humanity's survival, the nations of the world fought an unknown force in Antarctica. They paid a terrible price, but ultimately emerged victorious.
And so the story begins in the present, ten years later.
