Many people probably played the game of pressing their hands against the frost flowers on a window when they were young. This story builds on that idea, cleverly taking five children into the world inside the frost flowers, where they experience the childhoods of adults. It uses the contrast between childhood today and childhood in the past to highlight how different they are. The light reflected by the frost flowers also introduces the eighty-eight constellations in the sky. The Big Dipper is imagined as seven wise elders, the frost flowers as a city of dreams, and the character for "fortune" as a maze and a burial mound for dream clothes. The five children experience it all together, giving today's children a childhood adventure unlike any other.
