In a narrow alley beside the city gate, several people in white robes stood in the rain, blocking someone's path. Their bodies were completely hidden beneath their robes, and each face was concealed by a hood attached to the garment. Green eyes lurked in the darkness under the brims, scrutinizing the person they had stopped.
After a few moments, they walked away alongside the person, who was sweating with fear.
Rain fell on their white robes, seeping into the fabric without leaving a trace.
They strolled through the rain. Each drop pattered against the brick road like the mournful tolling of a bell.
Rainwater flowed over the eaves and dripped from their edges. The group in white stopped walking.
Not far away, a group of ruffians had gathered beneath the eaves, laughing and making crude remarks. Spotting something unusual, they kept glancing at the newcomers. Their laughter stopped, and the white-robed leader raised a piece of parchment from beneath her robe.
She looked at the name on the parchment, then at the ruffians before her.
Raindrops fell from the eaves to the ground.
A blade was drawn. ..
