The Ancient Tomb's Terrifying Dream

In 1626, Nurhaci, leader of the Later Jin, who would later become Qing Taizu, died. Before his death, he issued an edict naming his youngest son, Dorgon, as his successor. But Hong Taiji seized the throne by forging the edict, relying on his formidable strength. He also forced Abahai, Dorgon's mother and Nurhaci's beloved consort, to die in a sacrificial burial. The peerlessly beautiful woman became a victim of a palace coup. As she faced execution, she remembered the advice of the Khan's court strategist, Gong Zhenglu, who had urged her to stay out of the power struggle and wait for her son Dorgon to take the throne. She regretted not heeding him. The wronged spirit of this woman was buried beneath an ancient tomb beside the North Liao River, where she would occasionally unleash her anger upon the living. In the 21st century, the government of Beiliao City planned to develop the wasteland on the west bank of the river. The wronged spirit beneath the ancient tomb secretly intervened, using seasonal floods to devastate the newly developed area. Gong Qicai, a descendant of the Gong family, took charge of the project and began development again. To repay Gong Zhenglu for supporting Dorgon all those years ago, the consort beneath the ancient tomb decided to protect him.
