Tribulation of the Sky

Beyond the clouds, nine heavens high, after lifetimes of reincarnation, one finally returns to immortality. The Jade Emperor rules the Three Realms; headless Xing Tian lays waste to the spirit world.

After killing the Jade Emperor, Xing Tian made it through the Heavenly Realm, but soon left its rule to his younger brother, Chilong, while he worked on regrowing his head. Chilong, however, ruled with a heavy hand. He not only cast the Jade Emperor's ministers into the frozen waters of the River Ru beyond the heavens, but also gave positions of power to the demons he had met in the Demon Realm. The Immortal Realm descended into chaos. Unable to bear it any longer, the Thirteen Celestial Signs who served Xing Tian argued with Chilong, only to be banished one by one to the mortal world. There, the Celestial Signs endured countless trials, but also mastered extraordinary arts of cultivation. Fearing they would return as immortals and settle old scores, Chilong unleashed his demon beasts to slaughter humanity. But this only backfired: the Thirteen Celestial Signs joined forces with the essence of heaven, earth, and ghosts to wipe out Chilong and his demons. They freed the immortals of the River Ru, then vanished into the vast world alongside Xing Tian, becoming its guardian deities.
