, One of the four great classic Chinese classics, is a chapter novel written by Qing Dynasty writer Cao Xueqin1, also known as The Story of Stone. This book is divided into two versions: the 120-chapter "Cheng version" and the 80-chapter "Zhi version". The first 80 chapters of the new general edition were proofread by Zhi Benhui, and the last 40 chapters were proofread by Cheng Benhui, signed "Written by Cao Xueqin, continued by Anonymous, compiled by Cheng Weiyuan and Gao E"2. The author of the last 40 chapters is still controversial, but we should be wary of the extreme tendency to dwarf or even cut the last 40 chapters in half.
This novel and its characters are purely fictitious. Any similarity is purely coincidental and should not be imitated.
