No Longer, Yet Still

The void is the only force in this world that transcends the physical. Through thought, people can control their breath, sense life, and guide life and death. They can control their bodies and rise and fall through this gravity-bound world. Yet I, ordinary and unremarkable, remain in this material world, trapped in an endless cycle of reincarnation from which I cannot escape.

I've long grown tired of this humdrum life. You and I once wanted to do something with ourselves. Perhaps it was an unattainable fantasy, or maybe a forgotten memory. Whether in the past or the present, those dreams were always there. Perhaps they happened in the world where you exist... in this cycle of reincarnation that flows on forever.

The protagonist is unquestionably a good-for-nothing. He has no fortuitous encounters, no ancient divine artifacts, no sudden mastery over life and death, no sweeping triumphs, not even their shadows. Just like in the society we live in, all we seek is peace and tranquility. Indulging our ambitions will only plunge us into the abyss. As the ancients said...
