Who Do I Grieve For, Who Do I Rejoice For?

If only we'd met before I was married. The Second Book of Princess Wutong. We are all travelers crossing the Bridge of Sorrow, bound to three lifetimes of loneliness...

She is a sickly beauty of unmatched talent and looks, the third daughter of the Prime Minister, and betrothed to the Crown Prince since childhood. Though theirs is a political marriage, it is also fated. But on the eve of her wedding, her heart is stolen by Prince Jing, whom she has not seen in years. From then on, she is caught between two cousins. One can give her a lifetime of splendor, but not remain faithful to her alone. The other can provide for her, but can only watch helplessly as she dons her wedding finery for another man. She marries someone she cannot love, and loves someone she cannot marry. The bridal chamber that should have been filled with joy becomes a battlefield between two men. Amid the mist and rain of this mortal world, she is torn between them, longing to roam the world with the man she loves, but that dream is ultimately in vain. In the end, all the entanglements of love and hatred amount to nothing more than each going their own way, each returning to their own home. After countless twists and turns, all that remains is sorrow.
