When We Part

A love without mercy, when we part,

I wait only for the day you are gone and the halls stand empty.

Shadows of the moon overlap. How many times have sorrowful thoughts returned?

Those left behind can only speak of the feelings they held at parting!

I promised you a thousand years. Do not look back. My tears pour out my innermost feelings.

Time and place have changed, and I face the moon alone.

I raise a cup of wine and remember my love for you.

When love's sorrow feels just like lovelessness,

all is cold, desolate, and clear!
