“Xuanxuan, get up! You're going to be late.” Early in the morning, Mom hollered at the top of her lungs, pulling me right out of bed as she shouted. I was still bleary-eyed and groggy, but one tug from Mom woke me right up.
“Ugh, Mom, don't pull me! I'm getting up. That hurts.” I gave Mom a pitiful look, climbed out of my warm bed, and dashed to the bathroom.
It was the first day of school. Happily, I put on my red-and-white uniform and checked myself in the mirror. Satisfied, I combed my hair, slung on my backpack, and headed for the living room. I glanced at the clock. Oh no! It was already past **! I quickly grabbed a piece of bread, stuffed it in my mouth, and mumbled to Mom, “Mom, I'm off to school. I'm going to be late.” Then I hurried out of the house.
