Legends of the Gods

The meaning of the gods' existence is a topic of heated debate among intelligent beings known as "people" in every world and region of the universe. Regardless of what the gods do or whether their impact on the world is good or bad, there is at least one point on which everyone agrees: the gods' right to rule the world is fundamental and beyond the power of ordinary life to challenge. Ordinary people may choose what to believe in, but they cannot deny that the gods exist.

For this very reason, in worlds inhabited by ordinary beings known as "people," the gods' existence seems to be one of the basic conditions for the continuation of intelligent life. Among all the species created by the gods, intelligent beings also try to forcibly draw all of the gods' attention to themselves, eager to monopolize divine favor and proud of it. Even if the gods are not necessarily truly benevolent toward them, they are still happy to do so.
