Three Kingdoms: Battle for Supremacy

In the sixth year of Zhongping, 189 AD, at the end of the Eastern Han dynasty, Emperor Ling died and Liu Bian, the young Emperor Shao, ascended the throne, with the imperial relative He Jin serving as regent. He Jin conspired with Yuan Shao, an aristocratic official, to exterminate the eunuchs. Defying the court's opposition, he secretly summoned the Liangzhou warlord Dong Zhuo to the capital.

Later, when the plot was exposed, He Jin was killed by the eunuch Zhang Rang and the others. Yuan Shao seized the opportunity to lead troops into the palace, slaughter the eunuchs, and take control of the court. Dong Zhuo then marched into Luoyang and took command of He Jin's troops. He also had Lü Bu kill Ding Yuan, Commandant of the Capital, and absorb his forces, while he himself put ministers to death. His power grew enormously, allowing him to command the army and usurp control of the government.
