I’m a Farmer

Er Gou of Luanshiping didn't know what his surname was. Some said it should be Deng, because Old Deng the Lame from the village was a frequent visitor to Er Gou's mother's bed. Others said it should be Liu, because Er Gou looked a bit like the late Liu the Bachelor from the village. Still others said it should be Wang, because someone claimed to have seen Er Gou's mother lying on Village Chief Wang's kang. As for what his surname ought to be, Er Gou had asked his mother too. In response, she had whacked his backside raw with a broom handle, then pointed at his nose and cursed, "What do you mean, what surname? You're called Er Gou. Why would you need a surname?!"
