The Rural Teacher

Tushen's family lived in the county town, more precisely, on its outskirts. Though he was a farmer's son, he had hardly ever done farm work as a child. He had some emotional sense of how hard life was for rural people and how poor conditions could be, but he had almost no real understanding of it. A rural teacher in a special post sounded like a fine job, but it wasn't until he actually arrived in the countryside that he realized it was not an easy place to live. He hadn't even reached the school where he would be teaching. Just arriving in the town where it was located had already left him feeling bored.
