This sad but yet sad novel is paved with the stone of karma, and is regarded as the epitome of the glory of Lin Bu's past life.
It describes the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty. It begins with the story of Lin Bu's Taoist dream friend who was traveling around on a crane. A pair of talented people and a beautiful woman met in the Plum and Willow Garden.
Later, it ends with the prophecy that "the crane leads the plum willow to the treasure fan, and the hairpin combines the two plants to transform into an immortal", thus marking the tortuous and legendary beginning of the mutual love between the pianos.
