Long Daylight

The aftershocks of a war between advanced civilizations reach humanity. Humans are not the target, and wiping them out is not worth the other side's special attention.

When the long day arrives, so does a war between dimensions.

Human civilization faces an invasion by a two-dimensional civilization seeking to ascend to a higher dimension. As the flames of war rage, a three-dimensional civilization takes advantage of the chaos. How can humanity deal with an invasion by a civilization from an even higher dimension?
