The Ferry Bus to Wangchuan

Lin County, 1972.

The last bus at midnight transforms into a ferry traversing the divide between yin and yang.

The driver met a mysterious death at the docks, leaving me two ancient relics for protection and three ironclad rules that could cost me my life: No idle chatter on the bus! Never look back! No riding without paying!

My name is Wang Yao. Born with a Yin-commanding fate, I can see countless dead spirits lingering at bus stops. The old rules keep the living safe, but leave countless lonely souls with no way to cross over. Generation after generation of ferry drivers have had their spirits drained by yin malice, meeting untimely ends.

I learned a secret heart-guarding art and secretly joined forces with Lin Xi, a guide to the afterlife. Instead of using hell money, I take the souls' release and wishes as fare, breaking a thousand-year-old tradition to ferry suffering spirits across.

Daring to change the order of things will bring the merciless pursuit of the guardians of the crossing. With a jade clasp and wooden token in hand, I investigate the truth behind my parents' tragic deaths, carving a new path to rebirth for the dead on the razor's edge of the ironclad rules!
