How Am I Not a Wise Emperor Just Because I’m Greedy for Wealth and Women?

While others transmigrated and were still studying hard, Chen Zixuan opened his eyes to find people already kneeling and calling him Your Majesty.

Why bother striving? I want to enjoy life!

But Liu Zaijun soon discovered that being emperor wasn't all that easy.

The Empress Dowager kept him from getting close to the palace maids, and the Ministry of Revenue had no money for anything worthwhile. At last, when he asked about firearms, he learned that the court had allocated funds for them year after year, only for corrupt officials to line their pockets!

The women in the imperial palace each had their own agendas, the old foxes at court were full of lofty talk, and beyond the palace walls, the common people lived in ways he had never seen.

Liu Zaijun decided to take things one step at a time.

The corrupt officials could stay alive for now. He'd put them to work making cement. Even the bandits could be reasoned with: send them somewhere else to raid the Mongols.

As for the harem...

I have to rule the whole realm. Surely I don't have to let you decide who I like, too?
